In terms of safety
of bringing your family to Siwa, it is no more or
less dangerous than being in your own street at home.
There has never been any type of terrorism here of
any kind. Similar to the outer Hebrides in Scotland...
not exactly high on the 'bad guy's' hit list.
The pace of life is slow here and most transportation
is by donkey. The amount of road accidents here are
probably significantly less than your home town.
There are no sick people here. There are more people
with colds, the flu, etc in England than here. The
climate is good and 99% of people here are fit and
healthy and rarely get ill.
There are snakes and there are scorpions here...
apparently. Some are slightly poisons and if bitten
you would need to go to the local hospital for a jab.
We explain to exactly were the creepy crawlies are
in the oasis and how it is very easy to totally avoid
them. They are only around in the summer months so
if you come i the winter you will not see any.
There is a hospital here but it is basic. If in the
unlikely situation of a major accident there is an
ambulance service to a good hospital in Marsa Matrouh
and an international hospital in Alexandra that is
of the same standard of any western hospital.
