The Siwa Villa is completely
surrounded by the old town of Siwa
The dictionary explanation for the word 'Villa' is
‘A large house and gardens with a focus
on leisure and relaxing’, there is no mention
of what a villa is made of - so technically it
is a villa, but I bet you've never been in a villa
made of mud before.
There is an area for
parking up to two jeeps in the front of the villa
if needed.
The
Siwa Villa is on the left of the picture above with
the three arches
There are donkey stables across the road from the villa. Different from having a BMW parked next door.
The villa covers 130sq meters on each floor providing a large amount of living space for up to ten people.
You get a 130 sq meters of open space to do what ever
you want in, when you want to. It's only good on sunny
days though.. so for about three days a year you'll
have to use the living
room.
Roof Terrace of the Villa
Everyone loves a fire... and nobody wants to leave
it when dinner is ready. We thought about this one
and decided to bring the dinner table to the fire.
The table area has a spit for cooking whole
lamps on so you can sit around the fire taking turns
to turn the lamp, watch the ever changing colour's
of the Shali at sun set and serve up your meal without
leaving your seat.
Roof Terrace of the Villa
night
Egypt is in Africa after all. This area in the Villa
is a quite 'sun free' area away from the world and is
cool in the evenings and most of the day. The roof is
local bamboo held up by olive branches.
The Siwa Villa is surrounded by the old part of the
town called the Shali. To the front of the villa you
have the very old part that is now a protected area
and lit up at night. To the side and back the houses
are all made of mud and have not changed theirs ways
for hundreds of year. To see pictures of the rooms inside
