The weather
in Egypt in August can vary like the UK but is normally
the hottest month along with July. Most adventure
travelers avoid Egypt at this time of year due to
them moving around all the time, but because of the
low humidity, as long as you stay out of the midday
sun, you will have no
problem with the weather when staying in the Siwa
Villa. As there is low humidity in Siwa the temperature
in the shade is not too bad. The only problem with
this month is if you do get a heat wave like we did
in 2007 all over Europe (except the UK where it poured
down) it can get very hot and uncomfortable. You have
been warned! It is, normally in the low thirties and
pleasant in the shade and early morning and evenings
in the sunshine.
It's like when in Rome; when in Egypt do as the
Egyptians do and have a siesta in the afternoon and
go out in the early morning and evening when the temperatures
are fine. Avoiding the mid day sun is must, it's not like
being in an oven, it's like being under the grill!
That is the only down side, you really can't do much
in the heat of the day except relax
and chill, tuff one that. The Siwa
Villa has been designed to be cool in the summer
by having in places walls that are up to one meter
thick made of mud which act as a very good insulators
allowing you to sleep during the day in comfort. We are currently adding in air conditioning as we are now open all year round due to the direct flights coming in to Marsa Martuh from Gatwick and Manchester.
If your a compulsive sun bather, you are guaranteed
as much frying weather as you can handle. The ozone layer is very good here in Siwa and so you don't actually burn as much as you would think. As long as you have some suntan oil on, your fine.
Sun rise can be almost, slightly chilly and the
temperature is pleasant till about 11.30am -1.00pm.
After 1.00pm the sun is too hot, but if your in the
shade; as they say here, no problem. As long as
you have arrived at where ever you are going in the
oasis for the day by 11.00am and stay in the shade
for the afternoon you will not feel uncomfortable
at all. The Siwa
Villa has proved to be very cool in the summer.
I have the fans on all day and night and have absolutely
no problem with the temperature in the house.
The evenings in Siwa are nice in August and sleeping
out in the great sand sea still requires a blanket
to keep warm until the sun comes up. So don't believe
all the other web sites that say it is too hot to
visit Siwa in the summer. They are written by people
who do not live here.
Average temperature during the day in August for
Siwa is 31 -34 degrees and a low of 20 degrees at
night. It really can vary, it does reach 40 degrees
here but probably as much as it reaches 30 degrees
in the UK; so not often. |
